What a lovely assortment of presents! Maya must have been thrilled! The doll bed is so sweet, may I ask where did you get it? Hope you had a wonderful, peaceful Christmas!

I'm amazed at your utter lack of anything plastic anywhere. I mean, we do our best to keep it out too, but your home is pure waldorf beauty.

I wondered, why don't you wrap your gifts? Is it the waste of paper, or something else?

Awesome! Gorgeous gifts that I'm sure your little one will enjoy very much.

I am looking everywhere for that lovely stroller and I'm not fining anything that quite matches it. Looks a little like the one at Nova but the wheels are different.

Spill, mama. Where's you get it? :)

So beautiful! Really impressed on how you managed to keep the quality vs quantity quota. It took us two hours to open the gifts from the Grandparents for one child pretty much. Way to keep it magical.

thanks, everyone!

marina - the doll bed came from the wooden wagon. i still need to make a little mattress and pillow for it (i didn't like the one that came with it)!

herbwifemama - we've always enjoyed the tradition of having unwrapped presents on christmas morning, but we exchange wrapped gifts with our extended families on christmas eve. :)

anonymous and mary - i actually did order this stroller from nova natural, and just noticed that the wheels are different from those pictured on their website. if you want the same, maybe just call them to clarify first?

runninl8 - i'm so happy you mentioned me to bill when you bought your castle puzzle! he is so amazing and i love sending business his way. :)

colleen - the little green felted bag came from knitpotato on etsy. :)

We purchased the same stroller this year for Christmas, and it was from Nova. I bought it back in October and put it away, and I'm glad I did because I don't see it online anymore either. They were offering 2 different ones, although similar, one has rubber wheels and one has wooden. I would call to see if they have the one with wooden wheels anymore.

Shelley,
I love coming to your website and seeing your family's Waldorf life. I wonder if you have time to answer a question. How do you keep the rest of the world out, or is it just not revealed in your photographs and words? This photograph of your christmas tree shows me exactly how I want our christmas to be, but our trip to Grandma's house made it much different. I've already decided that I won't go there this year, but how do you temper the influences of the outside world.

Peace. Sally

More questions. Thanks for answering the ones asked already.

I'm such a book geek I'm wondering what the middle book is in the pile of three. Did you knit the tree skirt because it is lovely.

Our Christmas was quiet and simple as we are far from family and too much over abundance. I would second Ellamama's question about keeping the world at an arm's length. I feel like I do a fairly decent job but would love to read your perspective.

Lovely & peaceful photos.

sally - to answer your question about 'keeping the world out', there are a couple of things we have done. we don't have TV (other than a TV set to watch occasional movies of our choosing). i think TV and media (news and commercials especially) are one of those things that definitely brings the world in! we have also gently encouraged and influenced our families, over the years, about our lifestyle and the things we choose for our family and children...so we no longer get the plastic things we don't want. :)

nina - the second book in the pile in the photo is titled 'through the week'. it is a little book of poems and is illustrated by ruth elsasser, one of my favorite waldorf-inspired artists. :)

Thanks Shelley for the answer.

We are a very proud TV Free family and I do believe it makes all the difference.
